MOSCOW, Jul 10 (PRIME) -- Lada Zapad Tolyatti, part of Russian car maker AvtoVAZ, has started producing Chevrolet Niva offroaders under the Lada brand, the company said in a statement on Friday.
AvtoVAZ bought 50% in joint venture GM-Avtovaz from U.S. General Motors (GM) in December 2019, and Lada Zapad Tolyatti passed under a 100% ownership of AvtoVAZ.
The Niva model, manufactured since 2000, has been produced under the Chevrolet brand since 2002. About 700,000 offroaders were produced during the entire period of model existence.
